The Allbutt Family Tree

Who is in the Allbutt family?

Yes it is a funny name and easy to make fun of. I guess God only gave it to people who would be strong enough to put up with the stigma. Some are even strange enough to marry into the name and lose what respect they had previously.

Despite this, I am thankful that I don't have a common/boring surname but instead a very unique and distinctive family name -- that of Allbutt.

The surname ALLBUTT was a baptismal name 'the son of Ailbrit', an ancient personal name which was listed in the Doomsday Book of 1066 as Ailbriht. The name is of English origin.

The form Ailbrecht is of a German immigrant which came to England at a much later date.

Early records of the name mention Eusibi Ailbrit, County Huntingdondhire, 1273.

Farman Alberd was the bailiff of Yarmouth in the year 1325.

Henry Albot was the rector of Rockland, County Norfolk in the year 1350.

John Albert of Yorkshire was listed in the Yorkshire Poll Tax of 1379.

John Albertson was documented as the Mayor of Yarmouth in 1688.

Joseph and Sarah Albut were married at St George's Cahpel, Mayfair, London, in the year 1752.

The name is also spelt Allbright, Albert and Albertson.

As a family we are very small in number but we make up for it in the quality of the people.

Firstly there is me, Mike. I am the youngest of three siblings who are the proud owners of two fantastic people who are our parents. I write and publish a daily on-line journal here. I have a beautiful wife named Vanessa and two great children; a girl Priscila and a baby boy Joel.

I have two sisters. My oldest sister, Sharon married Mark in November 1997 and my other (twin) sister is Roslyn and she married Rodney in November 2006.

We also have a handful of relatives mostly scattered around New South Wales or living over seas.

My fathers' father was Clifford Allbutt.
